I was watching Sarah Lacy interview Mark Zuckerberg on AppleTv and for some reason this video game up as a “related” video.
I have no idea why or how this video’s related but I’m glad it showed up. I used to watch this video all the time a year or so ago and I’d like to thank YouTube for reminding me of it. I was even learning how to play this song but due to being busy as hell I abandoned that lil project but I figure this is as good of a time as any to resume.
Nothing big but its cool seeing that the Adobe guys have bugs in their ActionScript too
Oh ya… and for the record. I have no idea where the Flickr integration is:
Maybe they haven’t rolled the upgrade out yet or something. I’m looking forward to it though. It would be a good to for doing quick image edits for blog posts etc.
I was just checking the weekend Search Engine stats for Craig’s Little Buddy and saw that I got more hits from Yahoo! than Google.
My site doesn’t get a ton of traffic or anything so this isn’t some amazing metric but I gotta say I’m pretty shocked. The queries from Yahoo! actually seem better as well. Here, check ‘em out:

Kinda crazy huh?
It looks like everyone coming in through Google is just too lazy to type in the browser’s address bar and is performing a search instead. Its pretty hard for me to even consider those “searches”. On the other hand the Yahoo! queries are the actual queries I want.
I’m no SEO pro but when doing titles, H1’s, URL’s etc the Yahoo! queries are pretty much what I was shooting for. Some of the queries rank well on Yahoo! & some don’t. I’ll look into the ranking voodoo and try to make that stuff better but I am encouraged that I’m getting hits for these queries.
On page D3 there’s a big ass picture of me Here’s the interweb version:
Unfortunately the article isn’t about how awesome I am… it’s about music startups and how the up-and-coming bands use the interwebs to get themselves out there. Actually, The Hot Toddies got front page real estate… in those little squares up at the top of the front page. Tres Cool huh?
I, like a ton of my friends, never have cash (why the fuck would I bother going to an ATM?) and rely on my debit card. Hey, “Visa it’s everywhere you want to be”… right? This $5 minimum screws me about 3 or 4 times a week. A cup of coffee costs < $2 but I gotta buy some other bullshit to get to the magic $5 figure: I have a stockpile of Naked Juice at the office.
I get it; CC transactions cost the merchant $. I’ve done a ton of e-commerce stuff as an engineer and know more about CC transactions than I ever wanted to. But still, it’s fucking annoying.
As much as I hate to say it, God bless Starbucks. The coffee’s nowhere near as good and hearing the cashier scream “grande, non-fat, 2 pump mocha” to the barista is annoying as fuck but, on the flip side, they’re more than happy to swipe my AMEX for $1.85. Convenience is king… for me at least. Plus, their margins can handle the CC fee. I mean, how much does a cup of coffee actually cost them (minus fixed costs & wages)?
I wanna support the little guy but if there was a Starbucks within walk distance I’d definitely go there instead. I’ll trade coffee quality for convenience any day… millions do this every morning.
Dear “the little guy”,
Help me help you
Love Arin
PS: this whole rant has little to do with fair trade itself. It just seems like the private shops support fair trade the most and they’re the one’s (IME) most likely to have these retarded minimums for CC purchases.
My Tivo’s been acting up pretty bad for the last couple weeks. The serious issue was that it’s just been spontaneously rebooting… at least twice a day. Overheating was my first guess but it hasn’t been hot at all. Eh…
So tonight I finally did a software update. I don’t have a phone line so I rummaged through my box ‘o shit and found a bunch of long phone lines. None of ‘em were long enough so I connected a few to each other with DSL filters & stretched the makeshift line across the yard to the main house in order to get a dial tone. The upgrade’s finally done and I in time we’ll see if the rebooting BS has stopped.
I read some stuff on Tivo forums and lots of people blamed the 6.3d software and claimed upgrading to 6.3e took care of the issues. Problem is, like i mentioned above, I don’t have a phone line so the last update I did was 357 days ago. That pretty much rules out the software issue and I’m worried it may be some failing hardware. This would suck since Tivo and DirecTv no longer have a deal and if I wanted a new unit I’d have to get the bullshit DirecTv branded DVR.
Anyways, I hope this new software magically fixes my problem. I dunno what I’d do without my Tivo; I’d be lost without him.
Maybe I should write more about tech and less about guitars. When I first started this blog I totally intended on writing about tech and code (as well as guitars) but it just hasn’t happened as often as I’d like. I’ll plan out some nerd stuff for some upcoming entries.
